Reference materials may not be checked out and can only be used while in the library.  Videos and CD-ROM items are available for faculty checkout only.   A MaST student I.D. card is required to check out all materials in the library and to use the library’s computers.   All school rules and regulations are in effect while using the materials and services in the school library center.

Overdue materials

Library books should be returned by the due date.  If a student needs an item for a longer period, that item can be renewed as long as it is not on hold for someone else.  Weekly overdue notices and fine notices will be distributed to a student’s homeroom.  Overdue fines are accessed as follows:

Grades 3 through 5        5 cents a day for each school day past due date

Grades 6 through 12      10 cents a day for each school day past due date

Lost or damaged items

Unfortunately, some of the library items checked out by our students never make it back to the library.  In the event that library material is lost or damaged, we ask that a fine be paid to cover the cost of replacing the lost/damaged item.  Fines for magazines that are lost or damaged will be set at $5.00.

Library passes

Students in grades 7 through 12 may come to the library before morning homeroom, during lunch, and after dismissal.  Homeroom or lunch passes are required for these students to visit the library.  All students may visit the library during the day as long as they have either their signed agenda or a note from their teacher detailing the purpose for their visit.

Computer use

The Library has 7 laptop computers available for student use.  In addition to Internet access, the entire MS Office suite of programs are available including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  A printer is also available for student use.  The Acceptable Use Policy for Mast Community Charter School is in effect for students using the Library’s computers.  The Library’s computers may only be used for educational purposes only.  A student I.D. is required in order to use the computers. Student who violate the Acceptable Use Policy will have their computer privileges suspended.  Subsequent violations will be referred to the administration for further disciplinary action.
